- Dr. Alvin Turner was born in Milfird, Delaware and attended the University of Delaware from 1962 to the second semester of 1967. He was initially a biology major but switched to English Literature with a minor in history. In this interview, he shares the experiences he had as a student at the University of Delaware. His stories of his interactions with classmates, teachers, and other staff highlight the disparaging situation African American students faced at the early years of Negro students admissions to the University. He recounts the stories of racism, prejudice, and overall neglect felt by students by the University in academic, student, and even sports life. Interviewed by Kenta Suzuki in Elkton, Maryland.
