French Revolutionary Era Pamphlets
The French Revolutionary Era Pamphlet Collection is comprised of over 1000 pamphlets and books dating from 1698-1840, with the majority dating from 1780-1794. The pamphlets document the major periods of before, during, and after the French Revolution. They cover significant periods, events and administrations in French history such as the Estates-General (1788-89), the meetings of the National Assembly (1789), the reform decrees of Louis XVI (1789-91), the spread of anarchy (1790-91), the Constituent Assembly laws (1790-92), the convention decrees and laws (1792-95), the Thermidorian Reaction (1794-95), the Directory (1795-99), and Napoleon (1795-1818).
The collection consists of writings from politicians and pamphleteers as well as royal and administrative proclamations. Various notable figures of this period in French history are noted as authors in this collection, including Camille Desmoulins, who was an associate of Danton and Marat, National Assembly leader Démeunier Jean-Nicolas, Honoré Gabriel Riqueti Count of Mirabeau, and Maximilien Robespierre.
